My Favourite Waffle Recipe: Crispy, Golden, and Delicious

Waffles are a breakfast classic, and when made with the right recipe, they can turn an ordinary morning into something special. This waffle recipe is simple, reliable, and yields perfectly crispy waffles every time. Whether you’re making breakfast for your family or just treating yourself, these waffles are sure to satisfy.

Ingredients:

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 7 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron to your preferred level of crispiness.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir them together until evenly mixed.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients sans eggs. Separate yolks from whites. Add yolks to wet ingredients and in another bowl beat whites until firm peaks form.

  4. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until most of the lumps are gone. Fold in the egg whites.

  5. Ladle the batter onto the waffle iron. Use about ½ cup of batter for each waffle, depending on the size of your waffle iron. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Makes about 8-10 waffles.

  6. Serve immediately with your favourite toppings. Fresh fruit, maple syrup, and whipped cream are always great choices. For a savory twist, try topping with fried chicken and gravy.

Tips for the Best Waffles:

  • Don’t overmix: Overmixing the batter can make your waffles dense instead of light and fluffy. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.

  • Keep them warm: If you’re making waffles for a crowd, keep the finished waffles warm in a low oven (about 200°F) until ready to serve.

Why We Love This Recipe:

This waffle recipe is a tried-and-true method for making waffles that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The combination of ingredients is perfectly balanced, and the waffles cook evenly in the waffle iron. Plus, they’re incredibly versatile—perfect for both sweet and savoury toppings.

Whether you're enjoying them on a lazy Sunday morning or serving them at a brunch gathering, these waffles are sure to be a hit.
